What’s New With the Avaya Partner ACS R8?

Posted in analogue Phones by Admin on March 13, 2012 No Comments yet

New Features
Some of the most useful new features include:

o Network time synchronization -This is great for users who subscribe to digital or IP trunks using analog gateways. sometimes providers of these types of lines have clocking in different time zones, and this can produce the wrong time on your system. With the R8, all you have to do is turn off Network Time Synchronization and run your time on the system’s internal clock. Problem solved.

o Caller ID on single line phones – This is a great feature for common areas that use single line phones with Caller ID compatible displays. there is no need to add an expensive system phone in these areas. just purchase a cheaper single line set at your local electronics outfitter. This feature is also great when using devices like the Plantronics CT14 wireless headset. This popular wireless headset is often plugged into the adjunct port of a Partner 18D telephone for mobility. Now, you can see Caller ID information when you’re mobile.

o Message Alert Notification – Now you can program a button to alert you of voice messages at someone else’s extension. If your office mate is on vacation, then this is certainly an easier way to cover his voice mail. why walk over to his desk if you don’t have to?

Easily upgrade your Partner Plus or Partner II system
Does your programming erase whenever you have a power outage? do you need more features? Is your current Partner Plus or Partner II phone system hanging on by a shoe string? well, if the answer to any of these questions is yes, then it may be time to upgrade.

Recoup your investment. An expensive tear-out and re-installation isn’t necessary. the Avaya Partner ACS R8 processor is compatible with virtually all of the components in your current Partner Plus or Partner II system (1). just power down, remove your current processor from the middle slot of your carrier, and slide the Avaya Partner ACS R8 processor in. With the upgrade, you’re now compatible with the Partner ACS 308EC expansion module, so if you have any questionably functioning expansion modules, then you can swap these with the 308EC.

You will have to re-program the phone answering system (or your installer will), but that’s a small price to pay for such an easy upgrade to a superior system.

Compatible devices include:

oLine/Station Modules – 200, 200E, 400, 400EC, 206, 206EC, 362EC, 308EC, 012E, ACS T1, and 1600 DSL modules

oSystem Telephones – Partner MLS-6/12/12D/18D/34D, Partner Eurostyle 6/18/18D/34D, and Partner Eurostyle Series 2 6D/18D/34D

oVoicemail Systems – Partner Mail VS 1.0/3.0/4.0/4.1/5.0, Partner Messaging R1/R6/R7, and Partner Voice Messaging PC Card R2/R3S/R3L

Powerful and inexpensive start for your small business
The Avaya Partner ACS R8 processor has five lines and nine stations built-in. This capacity covers most small business communication needs in one compact unit. even better, voice mail is a snap. you can add up to 16 mailboxes and automated attendant with a PC card style voice mail that slides right into the processor.

With expansion capacity to around 15 lines and 40 stations (configuration dependent), the Partner ACS will grow when you’re business grows. Larger and more robust voicemail systems, the improved Avaya 3920 wireless telephone, music on-hold, and paging support provide your business with a well-rounded communication system that will never leave you short of features.

The Partner ACS is the most popular small business phone system in America. With millions of users, it has great support. Many voice and data professionals are well versed in its installation and programming procedures, so you’ll have no problem contracting an installation. In addition, the secondary or used market for Partner equipment is enormous which is wonderful for the cost-conscious consumer. Refurbished phones, voicemails, and expansion modules can save you a great deal of money.

With a new release and continued support, a cost-effective upgrade path, and a flourishing secondary market, the Avaya Partner ACS R8 phone answering system is hard to beat.

(1) Partner ACS does not support the Partner II Expansion Unit (e.g. second carrier). 5-Slot carrier must be model 103F or greater.

Small Business Phones With Big Business Goals

Posted in caller Id by Admin on September 12, 2011 No Comments yet

The market for 4-line cordless and cordless/corded small business phones is dominated by Panasonic and AT&T. the systems cater to the traditional small business environment but are also ideal for the growing home based business market. they have multiple lines and handsets, and the portable phones are feature rich to accommodate the typical needs of the small business.

Two of the most popular small business phones are the Panasonic 5.8 GHz 4-line FDSS Expandable Cordless Phone system with Call Waiting Caller ID and Answering system (KX-TG4500B) and the AT&T SB67118 4-Line Extendable Range Corded-Cordless Small Business Phone system with AT&T 4-Line Expansion Handset 4Pack (SB67118). (The companies are tied for longest phone names)

First, you should note that the Panasonic system is a cordless/corded system though the name does not indicate so. and the AT&T system is DECT 6.0 technology which offers a longer range than the 5.8 GHz Panasonic system.

There are 2-line systems available like the Panasonic KX-TG9392T and the Uniden DECT 4096, but most businesses are probably going to be interested in the 4-line systems because they leave room for business expansion. but you should be aware they exist in case you really don’t want or need a 4-line phone.

Going the Distance with Range

One of the most important features buyers of small office phone systems look for is the ability to extend the range of the phones. Office personnel often walk around with their phone in hand while handling customer requests. if you need long range cordless small business phones then you should consider the ATT 4 line cordless phone system. the ATT phone system can handle up to 6 repeaters for range extension while the Panasonic system does not offer any range extension. In fact the AT&T system is said to have DECT zero Blind Slot Digital Technology.

The range extenders are added to make sure the phones will work in various spaces around a building where normal reception would not be possible. for example, if the building where the phone system will be used has a number of levels or blind spots then the AT&T cordless phone would probably work best for you.

Comparing Features

Another difference between the two systems is the fact the Panasonic answering system offers 100 minutes of recording while the AT&T offers 180 minutes. In addition, the AT&T phone has push-to-talk and Panasonic does not. Reviewers are quite fond of the push-to-talk feature which works base to handset and handset to handset.

The phone systems are similar though in many ways. Both have cordless headset telephone jacks, music on hold, call recording, auto-attendant, speakerphones in the base and handsets, a phonebook directory and can be set up with a battery backup. the Panasonic system has 8 mailboxes and the AT&T system has 10. also, the AT&T system is slightly larger since it can be expanded to include up to 10 handsets while the Panasonic system maxes out at 8 handsets.

As for sound clarity, the quality in the Panasonic and the AT&T phones is rated high by reviewers. AT&T claims its DECT sound quality is superior to the 5.8 GHz phones but reviewers don’t really support this claim because both systems get excellent marks for sound quality.

Two good Systems

One of the complaints about the earlier Panasonic phones was the lack of volume settings but that has been improved with the KX-TG4500B. but some reviewers are still complaining that the maximum volume setting is not loud enough even with the volume setting improvements. that has been a problem for some businesses. Reviewers have some issues with AT&T’s auto attendant not ringing when a call comes in. Instead the calls go directly to the general mailbox and you don’t have an option to answer it.

Neither phone comes set up for handling Bluetooth cordless phones, but it can be added through a Bluetooth gateway. so Bluetooth should not be a deciding factor between the two systems. either the AT&T SB67118 or the Panasonic KX-TG4500B small business phones will serve well. but if range is an issue then you need to buy the AT&T. if a feature rich auto attendant function is more important than range, the Panasonic would be an excellent choice.

Reverse Lookup Payphones – Searching For Information With Just a Payphone Number

Posted in payphones by Admin on June 28, 2011 No Comments yet

You probably haven’t heard of reverse phone lookup. You probably haven’t even bothered with the idea of looking up a phone number. Well, that is until you found out that someone you don’t know is calling your house and asking questions about you and your family. who was it that called your number but never identified themselves? Reverse lookup is what you need to do to find people by phone number or even just the address of the phone number.

People who want to find out about strangers calling their phone numbers from anywhere in the country can use a reverse phone lookup. it is quite easy really. Most phones nowadays have a caller ID. You can get the number from there and then use it to search for the information about that number. You can just log on to the Internet and find a site that offers a free search or another one that offers their reverse search services for a fee. They’ll provide you with enough information about that number even if the call was from a pay phone.

Information from Reverse Phone Lookup

If the number that came up from a reverse phone number lookup is registered, the search will come up with an address. if you had paid the lookup service, the search will provide you with an address and a name. The search results would generally come up with a lot of addresses and names. This depends on the database used by the search tools. Phone numbers are rotated when they are no longer used.

If the call came from a pay phone, the search result should be able to locate it and tell you the address of that particular pay phone. Numbers of pay phones rarely get rotated unless the unit is damaged beyond repair.

Can You Trust the Information

What you do with the information given to you is up to you. Most people who paid for the lookup service would generally believe in the information that was given to them. Some sites that offer free services would just give an address or two, which is really not much if you are making a background search.

If you do want to use a paid service to find out if the call came from a pay phone or not, you should be aware of privacy issues. make sure that the site you want to use is certified by an organization like VeriSign. You can also tell if the site is secure if the address starts with an https.
