Telephone technology has moved rapidly in the last 15 years, mobile phones have revolutionised the way we communicate, that’s easy to see on every street. What’s less obvious is the fact that home phone technology has accelerated too, and now the state of the art home phone is the digital cordless phone, read on to find out more.

Many, many years ago before mobile or even cordless phones were invented every home in the UK had a standard, rotary dial telephone. and that was considered, at the time to be high-tech, in fact most people of my generation can remember the very first time they used a telephone and do so with reverence; because it was an important moment in ones life. in actual fact, looking back with the benefit of hindsight, these old phones were uncomfortable, heavy and impractical, and it took ages to dial numbers.

But times move on and in the 80′s, that technological age where anything seemed possible, along came the mobile phone (known as a cell phone in the US). Once again, early versions of these phones were big and bulky, with short batter lives and very limited reception. over the years since then of course, mobile phones have become smaller, lighter and now have more functions than a typical desktop computer of 20 years ago. we all see mobile phones as essential, even obligatory, pieces of technology in a way that wouldn’t have been imagined.

In the home the change has been equally dramatic, just less visible, because we can’t see everyone using their digital cordless phones n the same way as we can with mobiles. But the same technological revolution that has transformed mobile phones has transformed the home phone in an amazing way. the digital cordless phone is a technological wonder, with many features that rival or even surpass that of mobile phones. Such as hyper long batter life, fantastically clear reception and a multitude of ring tones, and the best thing is that modern designs have fantastic designs that can really spruce up your home.

So far from mobile phones spelling the end of the traditional home phone it is the very technology that has driven the mobile phone that has pushed the cordless digital phone into the 20th century and it is very likely to stay there for many years to come. in a nutshell we could speculate that mobile and cordless phones will merge together in years to come until the distinction is not at all clear.
